When it comes to fashion, it starts with the face. I am amazed at the work these makeup artists are able to do and because they are not only talented but very sweet, they are going to share some helpful tips and tricks to achieving your best runway model look.
Heidi Giselle (Darling Devil’s Makeup Studio/MUA over 13 years) also teaches makeup classes and has professional tips about foundation and getting that flawless look. You want to make sure your skin is moisturized for foundation using a BB cream which also provides a primer. To prep and take care of your skin is very important, it’s the basis for perfect makeup application. Brushes are also very important 1. Apply foundation to your skin with a flat foundation brush (not a sponge! they absorb product) synthetic brushes won’t absorb oils or products 2. Spray your skin with a setting spray 3. Buff foundation in a circular motion for a light and airbrush finish 4. A light powder finish will set the foundation in place.
Raymond Gutierrez (Beauty By Ray/MUA over 6 years) has great tips when applying an eyeshadow look 1. Favorite eye shadow primer, Too Faced Shadow Insurance. This works best for oily lids, keeps your eyeshadow in place through out the day/night 2. Eyeshadows -From High end to Drug store brands, you’d be surprised that it makes no difference with finish and quality. Drug store-My recommendation for smooth, non-chalky shadows would be WetnWild, Sonia Kashuk. High end-I’d recommend MAC, Urban Decay, Kat Von D, or Nars. TIP: Do your eyeshadow before any and all face products applied 3. Brushes -Essential tools are a synthetic flat brush for placing any lid color to the eyes. Ideally, a blending brush for the crease of the eye to create dimension and give a softer airbrushed appearance to the eye. Last but not least would be a pencil brush. With this tool you can easily bring a soft shimmer color to the inner eye (tear duct) which opens up the eye and gives the illusion of bigger eyes. With the same brush after wiping off the previous shadow or with another identical one you can place any soft, or dark shadow under the eye area to smoke out and make any look more diffused to your liking.
Wendy & Liz (Red Lipstick Makeup Studio/MUAs for over 5 years) will share how to apply long lasting flawless lipstick 1. Cover lips lightly with a base foundation or concealer 2. Shape your lips with a lip liner 3. Dust lightly with translucent powder 4. Apply lipstick with lipstick brush 5. With a small concealer brush, dab it with concealer and clean edges and around lips for clean look 6. Dab gloss in the middle for dewy look.
