In 2020, Latin music conquered the industry and the most prominent charts in the world. This year will be remembered for Shakira and JLo’s performance at the Superbowl Halftime Show. It was also the year Bad Bunny dominated the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify’s global top.

In the following article, we tried to compile 10 Latin Hits of 2020. These cheerful and danceable songs conquered the radio and streaming platforms. These songs made this challenging year a little more enjoyable.

Even when we couldn’t leave our homes for several months, these songs transported our minds to better times and gave us hope to dance and have a great time alongside our friends once again.

In no particular order, here is our special selection of this year’s most successful Latin songs.

Caramelo – Ozuna

The pandemic did not stop the Dominican singer from publishing music this year. Caramelo was the first single from his most recent album ENOC. This song produced by Tainy, combines a reggaeton base with super romantic and utterly sweet lyrics. Caramelo has 318 million plays on Youtube. Shortly after its release, Ozuna released a remix with Karol G and Myke Towers.

Mamacita – Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna and J. Rey Soul

The Black Eyed Peas dominated Billboard’s Hot Latin Song Chart with RITMO, featuring JBalvin. However, this song was released in 2019, so we wanted to highlight Mamacita. It reached top 1 of the Latin chart as well. Ozuna sounds amazing alongside J Rey Soul’s hooks. This track shows that TRANSLATION is one of the most enjoyable albums of 2020.

Safaera – Bad Bunny, Jowell & Randy and Nengo Flow

Safaera is a risky and over-the-top song that combines different rhythms to make a kind of “Hora Loca” mash-up that invites us to dance and go crazy. Safaera became an instant viral hit. “Mami qué tú quieres, aquí llegó tu tiburón” was the most popular phrase in Latino Tiktok last March. Just the Youtube visualizer counts with almost 280 M plays.

Hawái – Maluma

Maluma is the pretty boy of reggaeton, but that doesn’t mean his songs aren’t good. Hawái perfectly combines a danceable production with pop arrangements. The official video has almost 500 M views, and the song already has a remix featuring The Weeknd. Hawái lasted 9 weeks in the first position of Billboard Hot Latin Songs.

Ay, DiOs Mío! – Karol G

We can’t deny Tusa is Karol G’s biggest hit; it has 1,063 M views on Youtube! However, it took some time for the song to become a worldwide hit, being released in late 2019; instead, we will talk about her most recent hit, Ay DiOs Mío!

After achieving success alongside Nicki Minaj we couldn’t wait to hear Karol G’s new music in 2020. Ay, DiOs Mio! is a romantic and cheerful song. It counts with 300 M plays on Youtube.

Un Día (One Day) – J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Tainy

Dua Lipa is one of the most successful pop stars of 2020. She has proven to be a multifaceted artist who is not afraid to experiment. That’s why we are not surprised she decided to collaborate with some of the most influential figures in reggaeton, such as J Balvin and Bad Bunny. Un Día (One Day) was at the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs for 5 weeks!

La Jeepeta (remix) – Anuel AA, Nio García y Myke Towers con Brray y Juanka

This track only featured Brray, Juanka and Nio Garcia initially. Their remix included well-known names in the reggaeton industry, such as Anuel AA and Myke Towers. This combination made the song a hit. This song’s base uses high-pitched distorted voice loops over an 80’s-like beat with a retro and nostalgic vibe. Those little details in the production take La Jeepeta to another level.

Yo perreo sola – Bad Bunny

Out of YHLQMDLG, we find Yo Perreo Sola, one of the most impressive bangers of the successful album. What made this song a hit was Bad Bunny’s revolutionary video, where we saw him embracing his feminine side in 3 different drag looks. Although Benito’s activism may be questionable, we cannot deny that he used his platform to give a positive message about consent, and that’s way more than most male reggaeton artists have done.

Relación (remix) – Sech ft Daddy yankee, Rosalía, J Balvin & Farruko

Sech brought together several reggaeton superstars to make perhaps one of the best remixes of the year. The combination of the living legend Daddy Yankee with the new favorite girl Rosalía was something we never expected to see.

Tattoo (Remix) – Rauw Alejandro & Camilo

Camilo and Rauw Alejandro are the two newest and youngest artists on our list. In 2020 they proved that they have what it takes to make hits and conquer the Latino industry. This track has a very pop and easygoing vibe. Its paradisiac video shows the singers having fun in Miami’s streets. Tattoo (Remix) counts with 410 M plays on Youtube.

Dákiti – Bad Bunny ft Jhay Cortez

Dákiti is currently the #1 song in the world top of Spotify. Bad Bunny makes history again, and this time alongside Jhay Cortez. In just one day, the song got 7.85 M of streams, breaking a record on Spotify. Recently the track broke its own record getting 10.9 M of streams in one single day. Dákiti is the first single from Bad Bunny’s surprise album El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo.
