The album’s focus single is called “Adams Family”
The innovative Mexican-American LOS APTOS released their fifth alternative sierreño album, TEMPORADAS, today. The new album showcases the trio’s new genre-bending era, featuring indie, regional, pop, country, alternative, and more genres.
Los Aptos is back with TEMPORADAS, a conceptual 12-track album about nostalgia, and temporadas [seasons] of life and love that simultaneously pushes the band’s musical boundaries. The new LP includes their released and praised hits like “La Nena,” “La Top Uno,” “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Dices Me Extrañas,” “Tal Vez,” and “Wow” with country singer Jordyn Shellhart. Since 2023, the band, formed by vocalist and songwriter Juan Ortega, bassist Jony Rivera, and keyboardist and producer Daniel Vaides, has continuously released hit after hit, crafting the ever-evolving album that became TEMPORADAS. Now, fans can finally enjoy the finished product that signals a new era for the flourishing stars.
“This album was something different from our style, which everyone knows. We are known for having a more regional indie style, which we still have. But we wanted to change it a little bit. To be able to transmit to the people our variety and capacity,” Ortega said about the new album’s creative process.
He continued: “This album is a very regional album. I feel that every album an artist releases is a reflection of how they felt when they were producing the album. And I don’t mean emotionally, I mean artistically. What did we listen to a lot? What did we like a lot? And well, while we were creating this album, we were listening to a lot of Peso Pluma, Jasiel Nuñez, Natanael Cano, Oscar Maydon, etc. The album has very catchy songs and a lot of melodies that have the Los Aptos style. We put a little bit of our own touch, elements that we like because of our love for pop. Lots of synths, vocoders, and just the way the songs are mixed. We are excited to release this part of our career.”
With the album release, the band unveiled the newest music video for the album’s focus single, “ADAMS FAMILY.” The visuals feature the trio in cinematic frames as Ortega sings about the unconditional love he shares with his partner. Sonically, the track intertwines their signature música mexicana elements like melodic guitar chords and brass instruments with a touch of spooky tinges that tie to the song’s title.
“‘Adams Family’ is a song about ur partner loving and accepting all of you – even the bad traits. It speaks on sort of being toxic and carrying demons with you. That’s why I was inspired to play with the idea of Adam’s family as a metaphor. Also, it fits with the dark, melancholy vibe of the song. It was a fun song to make,” Ortega said about the song’s inspiration.
Moreover, band member bassist Rivera shares his experience with the album process: “It was really cool learning a new instrument for this album with the tololoche, I feel like we all learned a lot and had fun making music in a different style.” On the other hand, Vaides says, “I am very excited about this album. Being able to create an album with our roots of Mexican/Latino regional music and blending it with our own flair is just incredible. I’m excited for everyone to experience it!”
TEMPORADAS also has special features like the aforementioned “Wow” featuring Shellhart, and “Hasta el Alma” featuring rising sierreño singer Dariell Cano. Up next, LOS APTOS will represent the new música mexicana wave at Napa Valley’s La Onda Fest this weekend (May 31).
