La Doña, born Cecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea, releases new single “Le Lo Lai” off her forthcoming debut Algo Nuevo EP due Feb 12th.

The track is a sultry, bilingual power anthem that perfectly encapsulates her new style of reggaeton – “Femmeton” – seamlessly blending Carribbean beats, reggaeton, and hip-hop styles.

The music video co-directed by Naomi Garcia and La Doña herself, “Le Lo Lai” finds Doña on her stoop in San Francisco, gathering her girls to recount her list of summer lovers.

La Doña composes songs that explore her radical brown femininity, inspired by love, sex, pain, and natural disasters. Identity informs all parts of Peña-Govea’s process as she creates a new style and composes cut-throat rancheras al estilo Tejano, influenced heavily by Bay Area hyphy styles, lowrider culture, Mission muralismo, and musica de la (U.S./Mexico) frontera.
