Latina Pinups held an event in Downtown LA with performances by rockabilly bands The Spoofs, Lone Range Smokers and burlesque performances by talented ladies like the gorgeous Ruby Champagne. Speaking with Ms. Erika the co-founder of Latina Pinups I learned that they are a team with one mission: to promote and give recognition to Latinos and Latinas in the rockabilly and pinup scene. Latina Pinups has been around over a year and continues to grow.
Latina Pinups is considered a community based environment where they welcome everyone. The goal is to be able to acknowledge the Latin culture within the rockabilly scene. Being able to promote, unify a place to showcase their talents, creativity and the good deeds they strive to do in society.
I also showed support in the Valley/818 to the wonderful girls from the Classic Chicanas Club who were holding a fund raiser for a project called Pinup My Prom! Speaking with Ms. Maritza I learned that Classic Chicanas Club has been around for 3 years and they highly encourage ladies who want to make a difference in the community, want to make new friends with a strong sisterhood bond, trust and respect to join.
They are also a women’s online clothing company and an all female club with volunteer pinup models who donate their time to make a difference in the community. For example they had a Fight Against Breast Cancer fundraiser for one of their pinups who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and have many more projects coming up this year.
This was one fun filled weekend, live music, burlesque and gorgeous pin ups wanting to make a positive change in the community, what more could you ask for?
