Los Rabanes serve up a mix of punk, ska, and traditional rock sounds that’s as in your face as it is thoughtful. The group reigning from Chitré, Panama originally intended to play exclusively in bars and pubs on the weekends, however they were soon playing larger venues eventually becoming Latin Grammy award winners. The band’s metamorphosis from a small group to a world famous ensemble, was strongly influenced by former drummer and current manager, Alvaro Acevedo.

Acevedo reorganized the structure of the group and began to sling demos at any and every opportunity. Los Rabanes eventually appeared in the Rock Nacional festival, there alongside many other Panamanian rock groups they gained national exposure.

Los Rabanes sound is heavily influenced by the rhythms of their native Panama accompanied by a punk energy that gives their music a strong sonic impact. They are not afraid to play with reggae sounds and most of their music carries ska vibes. Their lyrics often satirize issues of the day, or deal with injustices of the past. They are not afraid to use english to make light of heavy themes like the U.S. invasion of Panama. Los Rabanes make music that’s not only interesting to listen to but also that challenges you mentally. They are a shot of energy, poured into a cup of deep thought.
